Basically the rocking chair has two curved bands of wood or rockers fixed to the bottom of the chair. It contacts the chair with the floor only on two points that allows the occupant of the seat to rock back and forth with the minimum of effort. It is a comfortable chair to sit on even without the push factor – it automatically adjusts with the centre of gravity of the sitter for ergonomic advantage. It relieves stress. Built up on this basic structure are many types of rocking chairs having springs and gliders. Greek and Roman chairs influenced the neo-classical designs. One of the latest Norwegian models can take on four positions.
Rocking chairs are a common item we associate with mothers, gently rocking their babies to sleep. We also associate them with the elderly, leisurely enjoying the early morning or the sunset on their porch. Most rocking chairs are made with fine woods, and last for centuries. Rocking chairs are common family heirlooms. Rocking chairs have become very common. They come in a variety of styles and designs. Some of them are painted and others have only the natural wood finish. You will find them for young children, backyard lawn furniture, elegant front porch features, and still used in nurseries for quiet times with your baby.
For an inexpensive padding option, fabrics like, cotton and foam based rocking chairs are viable options but its tough to get them clean since herein a padding is usually covered with fabric itself, therefore its maintenance is an object of constant concern for the consumers. These days we get to see more of plastic rockers chairs and traditional wooden rocking chairs being used by kids and adults but this is without padding and it's a convenient, inexpensive and maintenance-free option when compared to padded rocking chair. But with all these materials, there is one problem: they don't give their consumer that added comfort to relieve back and spine pain on the whole.
